I have been considering getting a tattoo since I was 18, but I've never been able to decide on something long enough to be sure I wanted it inked on my body FOREVER.
That is until I had kids. I would love to put their names on me somewhere, maybe with their birthdays. But what?
Do you have your kids' names inked on you? Where, what does it say, and would you do it again!?
Im not going to get their names, but after our 4th I plan on getting the chinese symbols for love and happiness, with their DOB's underneath it!
ReplyDeleteBeing a Minneapolis hipster*, I have a lot of ink, but nothing for my kid yet. I'm thinking of a family sleeve with birth month flowers for myself, DH, and LO. Our LO is adopted, so I've though about somthing adoption related too.
ReplyDelete*totally not true.
Caryn!! Same location and same "lots of tattoos"... I run RockerByeBaby - look me up on facebook, Im always looking for moms to hang out with!
Deleterockerbyebaby@gmail.com if you want to get in touch.
AWESOME!!! Just did!
DeleteI have a few friends that have some cool tats of their kids...
ReplyDeleteone friend has her sons footprints on the back of her neck/top of her shoulders.
Another has her childrens thumbprints.
Another has his childrens heart rhythms (think EKG thing) on a arm band around his forearm. He is a paramedic so was able to get these as soon as the babies came home.
I have 5 tattoos. One is a symbol I designed with my ODS's initials. The only reason I don't have one for YDS yet is because I can't figure out a design I like with his initials. He's 2.5 and I still can't figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI took each of my kids footprints and we had each set look like a butterfly. I then took their birthstone for the body of the butterfly and put their names next to each set. It's on my right calf.
ReplyDeleteI don't have names but I have my and my oldest son's astrological glyphs intertwined on my foot. It also happens to be my husband's but I got the tattoo before we met. I would like to do something similar with my younger son but I don't know what. I may do something when I know my family is complete and have the one on my foot for my husband and I
ReplyDeleteI have wanted one as well since I was about 19. I've been thinking of getting a child related one as well but have wondered what others who have gotten them thought of theirs down the road. Great question! I've been thinking of just birthdates but with a • between the numbers instead of a / so it flows better and catches the eye a little more.
ReplyDeleteMy husband got the Dr Seuss quote "A person's a person no matter how small" from Horton hears a who with our boys names under it. With a nautical star next to it in blue and green. I love it. I'd totally get a tattoo done eventually and it may or may not be for our boys lol but not till after this little guy is born.
ReplyDeleteI have a tattoo for my daughter- I went the abstract route. Her name is Althea- I ended up getting a rose of Sharon - also known as an Althea flower- on my shoulder. Absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteI found this quote a while ago and love it...
ReplyDelete"Children and mothers never truly part-bound in the beating of each other's heart" then thought of putting their names or DOB by it...
i have an anklet with charms hanging off for my dd and ds and dh now i have to get one more for our newest little one on the way
ReplyDeleteI have a dolphin with my sons name as the body
ReplyDeleteIf anybody wants to post pictures on FB I'd love to see them!
ReplyDeleteI have half sleeves and then some, I *heart* tattoos. I have my daughters feet on the inside of my bicep (I had a fantastic artist, it looks like they just inked her feet and put them right on my arm), I plan on putting my sons hand prints next to these.
ReplyDeletei probably won't do names, but i want a celtic motherhood knot like this! http://www.2adults1child.com/fun_stuff/Dianne_Tattoo_Celtic.htm
ReplyDeleteI don't currently, but very soon I will be getting my son's footprint on my back left shoulder, with his name and/or birthdate!
ReplyDeleteI want to get something like a bouquet of my children's birth flowers with the stems intertwined into a celtic mother's knot. At first, I just wanted the knot, but my idea has evolved over time. One of my friends got the celtic knot idea from me and had the tree of life done with the knot in the bark. It was really beautiful!
