Hard to Find Lovies- For a HTF Shell WINNERS!

fran·tic- adjective (ˈfran-tik)

Definition of FRANTIC

1) archaic : mentally deranged
2) emotionally out of control (frantic with anger and frustration)
3) marked by fast and nervous, disordered, or anxiety-driven activity (made a frantic search for the lost cloth diaper)

This is the word that describes me as I am searching high and low for my child's lost lovie. Why you ask? Well most parents would agree that when it comes to lovies it always happens to be that they fall in love with the one that you got from a baby shower from Aunt Jackie and she got it from a boutique shop she found when she was on vacation in Hawaii and there is no way you can just drive to the store and buy a new one. Even if you could just go and buy a new one it would never look, smell, or feel like what your child had made theirs into.

There is Hope!

Thanks to social media, there are now groups and pages on facebook for posting found and lost lovies! Can you believe that! Seriously how awesome are some people that find a dirty, smelly (looks-like-it-got-ran over-a-couple-times-and-spit-on- lovie) They bring it home with them and post it on facebook! lol

There are also a couple websites that do this same thing, like: http://www.lostmylovey.com/ and http://plushmemories.com/

You can usually find some on eBay as well. Unfortunately lots of eBay sellers know that parents are desperate to replace their child lovie so prices are usually marked sky high.

The only way to avoid this all together is never give your kid a security blanket/ item or give them one that isn't going out of style.. like a kitchen towel .. haha good luck. Like I said earlier its inevitable that your child will find comfort in the most HTF item out there..

Speaking of HTF things..

Giveaway Contest is Closed. Thanks everyone who participated, we got some really great ideas of what to do if your kids lose their favorite toy or lovie!! Congrats to the winners of the HTF SoftBums shells . Please email info@SoftBums.com to claim your prize. <

Cake Decorating Tips & HTF SoftBums Shell Giveaway WINNER

In Celebration of one of our own SoftBums babies birthdays, this week is all about crazy cake decorating.

Connor is turning 1 and in celebration we are having a "Little Monster" themed birthday party. We're not much fans of traditional cake per say, instead we are going to make him a banana bread cake in the shape of a monster with coconut cream frosting. Something like this:

Monster Cake with Cake ball eyes

Cloth Diapering moms are all about saving money, so it makes sense to do your own cake decorating. Even if you aren't a crafty person cake decorating can be very simple, and if it doesn't turn out just how you want it to look, your little one wont know the difference, and most likely they will smash it in a matter of minutes anyways.

Here are some fun cake decorating ideas:

Fresh Fruit Cake! (lactose & gluten free!!)
Turtle Cake, Kiwi, Banana's, Coconut flesh & Dates!

Owl Cake, using candy banana's for claws and beak. Oreos for eyes

Kit Kat & M&Ms decorated cake
Monster Truck Cake with cookie crumbs & icing
Smash cake with number outlined in sprinkles

Pokéball Cake using a pastry bag & star tip

Proverbs for moms

We don't hear Proverbs anymore.  They used to be a way to connect with the whole of mankind, and help us get through difficult times.  It makes things look more managable and easier when you can see the big picture.  Parenthood is so tough sometimes, we have a way of getting lost in the chaos of it all.

What are some of your favorite Proverbs?

A first grade teacher collected old, well known proverbs.  She gave each child in her class the first half of a proverb, and had them come up with the rest.
  1. As you shall make your bed, so shall you..........mess it up
  2. Better to be safe than....................punch a 5th grader
  3. Strike while the................................bug is close
  4. It's always darkest before.............daylight savings time
  5. You can lead a horse to water but.......................how?
  6. Don't bite the hand that.........................looks dirty
  7. A miss is as good as a...................................Mr.
  8. You can't teach an old dog new..........................math
  9. If you lie down with the dogs, you'll.....stink in the morning
  10. The pen is mightier than the............................pigs
  11. An idle mind is.........................the best way to relax
  12. Where there's smoke, there's.......................pollution
  13. Happy the bride who......................gets all the presents
  14. A penny saved is.....................................not much
  15. Two's company, three's..........................the musketeers
  16. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, cry and....you have to blow your nose
  17. Children should be seen and not..........spanked or grounded
  18. When the blind leadeth the blind..........get out of the way
  19. Better late than.....................................pregnant
