Do you sign with your baby? What is your experience?
I know my babies learn to say the words first that they know the signs too. Here is a cute reference page.

I do baby signs with my son and he is really picking them up. I know some people feel that they delay them from talking, but so far that isn't the case with him as he is 13 1/2 months and just last night said Dada balloon in a sentence.
ReplyDeleteI also worked in a one year old room for many years at a daycare while I was in college and from that experience I can say that the kids that knew the most signs also said the most words.
We have two sons--17 months and 3 months--and we are a bilingual Spanish/English home. We got a little baby sign language book, but only did a few signs for mealtime, but we used the same signs for Spanish and English. Our oldest, JJ, has responded well to the signs we've used, and he answers questions well in Spanish and English with those signs. Having seen JJ's success, we're going to do more with our youngest, AJ, again in Spanish and English.
ReplyDeletewe do sign aswell, she knows, more, eat, all done and me. i love it because instead of crying for things she just signs for them. shes been doing them since she was 6 months. now she is 15 months and still does them along with saying what she wants.

ReplyDeleteEverybody know s you just had a baby, it is okay to look that way. You won't want to look like you just walked out of a styling salon, that's not how you really looked. That goes along with hair styling stuff. I knew I’d want to wash, dry, and straighten my hair at least once so I brought it, bring what you think you’ll really use.
